Legislators rally behind
Michigan Safe Patient Care Bill -- More than one-third of
Michigan's representatives
have signed on to the Safe
Patient Care legislation sponsored by state Rep. Jon
Switalski and state Sen. Rebekah Warren.
The bills, H.B. 4311 and S.B. 228, will give
Michigan a comprehensive plan to protect
Michigan patients that includes hospitals
developing and filing staffing plans; maximum nurse-to-patient ratios per unit based on national standards; accountability measures; and a ban on mandatory nurse overtime except in emergencies.
