Ratios Go To Washington
RNs in the nation's capital are determined to pass ratios, and that's just the beginning
On a drizzly Friday with thunderstorms homing in on the nation's capital, hundreds of RNs jammed a Washington, D.C. church in late April to send an emphatic message to local politicians: Safe staffing is coming to District of Columbia hospitals, and the nurses will not be denied. A bill to establish minimum, specific RN staffing ratios for every D.C. hospital, modeled on the brilliantly successful law nurses fought to enact and defend in California, is now advancing before the District of Columbia city council.
