Michigan RNs settle contracts covering more than 7,000 RNs
MICHIGAN -- The beginning of 2013 was a turbulent time in Michigan as the state made the transition to being
a so-called "right-to-work" state as of March 28. Relationships between management and nurses that have been in existence for almost half a century
are reeling. Immediately following the Michigan Legislature's passage of this legislation, the Michigan Nurses Association sought out a way to bring a sense of security and stability to the nurses the union represents during this transition. In less than three months, more than 70 percent of MNA's membership is now covered by either a new contract or contract modifications that include no takeaways.
