Bottom of the ninth, striking out Sutter
CALIFORNIA -- When RN negotiator Ann Gaebler texted her husband to let him know that she and her RN colleagues at Sutter Health would be going on strike for seven days to protest their employer's extreme takeaway demands, he wrote back, "That's a serious strike."
The strike, which started May 17 and ended May 24, was the longest yet of the nine walkouts East Bay Sutter nurses have conducted during their contentious, two-year negotiations with one of the most profitable and aggressive hospital chains in Northern California.
