San Jose nurses strike again
CALIFORNIA -- Even when Good Samaritan Hospital registered nurses go on strike, they are still busy being Good Samaritans and taking care of their community.
Such was the case on the second day of a two-day strike held May 23 and 24 by nurses at that hospital and at Regional Medical Center in San Jose. The nurses are protesting the refusal of hospital officials to address their concerns over staffing as well as management's proposed elimination of their pension plan. California Nurses Association/NNOC represents the 1,400 RNs at the two HCA-affiliated hospitals. HCA is the world's largest for-profit hospital chain. CNA/NNOC currently represents RNs at 19 HCA-affiliated hospitals across the country.
