Massachusetts RNs save beds for most mentally ill kids MASSACHUSETTS -- Massachusetts nurses scored a major victory in May when Cambridge Health Alliance announced it had backed off its decision to shut down a unit for severely mentally ill children—a plan that nurses had lobbied very publicly against and that the state Department of Public Health had concluded would hurt public health because the services were deemed essential for the children of eastern Massachusetts.
