THE NEW
THREAT
TO RNS
Learn about
SEIU International's
plan to dominate
RN representation
and why that's
dangerous for nurses
and patients.
right: In April, SEIU staffers and
members literally crashed a banquet
at a labor convention—punching,
shoving, and trampling attendees
who blocked their way as they tried
to rush the stage.

REGISTERED NURSE
N
urses of america, we're calling a code.
That's because the Service Employees International Union, under the leadership of its president
Andy Stern, has launched a full-scale assault
against CNA/NNOC and, in the last month, has
sent hundreds of staffers, mainly to our home base
of California, with the goal of destroying our
organization by poaching our members. SEIU
wants to represent the country's registered nurses. If CNA/NNOC
allows it to succeed, RNs can kiss good-bye to not only the high nursing practice standards we've worked so hard to achieve, but to
accomplishments like staffing ratios, the duty and right to act as
patient advocates, single-payer healthcare reform, and the competitive salaries, pensions, and healthcare benefits we enjoy. The entire
future of nursing and all the goals of our national nurses' movement
is at risk.
