CHS nurses across country hold
strikes, national day of action
NATIONAL
egistered nurses at seven
Community Health Systems
hospitals in California, Ohio,
Pennsylvania, and West Virginia
held a national day of action
Dec. 3, staging strikes, pickets, and other
solidarity activities. The events involved
more than 1,400 RNs at the facilities.
The nurses were protesting repeated,
multiple violations of federal law by CHSaffiliated hospitals and the failure of CHS
executives to address widespread concerns
about patient safety and cuts in patient services as well as the nurses' efforts to secure
economic and workplace fairness.
Highlights of the day included one-day
strikes at two California CHS hospitals, one
in Watsonville and another in Barstow, and
