e don't know about you, but reading books these
days feels like a luxury. With our smartphones, tablets,
laptops, car dashboards, and even gas pump monitors
to distract us and feed us snippets and nuggets of data
without context, concentrating on one subject for as
long as a whole book seems downright indulgent. But you'd really be missing
out if you didn't read books. It's a chance to really delve deeply and gain some
mastery of a topic. There are some terrific ones out this year. Some of them,
like Missing Microbes and Unnatural Selection, are very relevant to regis-
tered nurses' roles as scientists while others, like Mindless, are very relevant
to nurses' roles as activists for their profession and practice. And we threw
a couple others in just for fun and hijinks. Enjoy!
