By Katrina RN Volunteers As quickly as CNA started sending volunteers RNs to the Gulf Coast after Hurricane Katrina, we just as quickly started receiving amaz- ing reports of care and survival back. Many volunteer nurses who journeyed there felt compelled to document their trip as a way of remembering and coping with not only the intense emotions their patients were sharing with them daily, but with their own response to what they were experiencing.
