In March, for a week, and then again in June for four days, nurses staged spirited strikes and even enjoyed a moment in the national spotlight when presidential candidate Sen. Bernie Sanders issued a public letter of support for their struggle to protect patients. The 1,300 RNs organized with California Nurses Association are seeking their first CNA collective bargaining contract after organizing last July.
