"You can be disciplined and/or fined by CNA/
NNU according to its constitution and bylaws."
Unlike management, CNA/NNU does not use disciplinary
measures (or fines) to control its membership. The bylaws
are voted on by elected RN delegates at the CNA/NNOC
triennial conventions.
CNA/NNOC and NNU are the fastest-growing and most powerful
direct-care RN professional organizations in the nation. CNA is more
than 100 years old and has a constitution and bylaws like all well-
established organizations.
Myth #12
Truth:
"CNA/NNU will make unwanted visits to your
home during the election campaign."
CNA/NNU is run by direct-care RNs who know the concerns of their
colleagues. RNs want their privacy protected and, as a result, an
organizational policy was established prohibiting unwanted visits to
RNs' homes.
Federal labor law stipulates that management provide a list of RNs
with names and addresses after RNs have signed authorization cards
stating they want CNA/NNU representation and a petition for an
election is filed with the National Labor Relations Board.
This enables CNA/NNU to provide RNs with information and to
ensure that the list of eligible RN voters is accurate.
It is meant for CNA/NNU to have some access to RNs to
offset the 24/7, round-the-clock anti-union campaign by
administration and its anti-union consultants.
