WRAP-UP REPORT Illinois -- Chicago nurses have been busy this summer, first protesting the American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC), the notorious group that promotes pro-corporate, anti-worker laws in every state, and then participating in the city's annual Bud Billiken parade, the oldest and largest African American parade in the country. Washington, D.C. -- National Nurses United in July applauded a ruling by U.S. District Court Judge Richard Leon that MedStar Washington Hospital Center violated its nurses' collective bargaining agreement when it unlawfully and unilaterally instituted sweeping reductions in the nurses' health benefits.
